Hair spray is a lifesaver for adding shine and volume to your hair. But, did you know it can be used in so many other ways around the house? Check out these 10+ brilliant uses for it

1. Remove lint

Even if clothes are clean, lint can make them look like they’re still dirty. You can always use a lint roller, but that’s time-consuming. Instead, spray hair spray onto a washcloth and rub it across your clothing. The lint will stick to the hairspray and lift easily off of the clothes, leaving them clean and lint-free.

2. More easily thread a needle

Spray the end of the thread, then pinch it with your fingertips to compress stray strands and prevent fraying. The hair spray will also stiffen the thread, so that it’s easier to pass through the eye of a needle.

3. Stop a run on pantyhose

If you are a fan of a pantyhose, you’ll relate to this one. Tired of runs on your pantyhose? Try hairspray next time! The hairspray will bond with the pantyhose, making the material less likely to rip in the future.

4. Pet hair removal

Try spray hairspray on a towel first and then rubbing the towel against the pet hair you want to remove. Removing hair never got easier!

5. Protect recipe cards from food stains

Never let food stains ruin your grandmother’s prize-winning cookie recipe. Cover recipe cards in a few coats of hairspray before using them. The hairspray works like lightweight shellac, enabling you to wipe off any splattered ingredients with ease.

6. Reduce static cling

Sweep hair spray across your clothes before heading out. Hold the can 1 to 2 feet away and spray lightly, so the product doesn’t build up on your clothes.

7. Improve food displays

Know about those shiny plastic fruit displays? Instead of buying those, you can improve the look of real fruit by using hairspray. Hairspray will make the fruit shine more and last longer as a display. Just remember to not eat them afterwards!

8. Remove ink stains in fabric

Next time you find a smear of ink on a favorite shirt, get a can of hair spray. Spray it directly onto the ink and blot with a paper towel until the ink disappears.

9. Keep screws from coming loose

Over time the screws that secure cabinet and drawer handles start coming loose. You can tighten them every time or you can fix the problem once and for all. Remove the screw and spray a thin layer of hair spray on it. When you screw it back into the hole, the hair spray will help keep it in place and prevent the screw from moving.

9. Speed up nail drying time

You’ve just finished painting your nails and need to fly out the door. To speed up the drying time, spray some hair spray over your tips, then dunk them into cold water. The hair spray won’t dry them completely, but enough so you’ll avoid ruining your new manicure. The water helps remove some of the product’s residue.

10. Remove stickers

Have you ever bought a new product and removed the price stickers only to discover they’ve left behind a gross, sticky residue? Scrubbing over this residue or trying to pick it off likely won’t do any good, but hair spray can help. Spray it directly onto the residue and wipe it away with a paper towel. The amount of spray you should use depends on how much sticky residue is involved, so you might have to give it more than one application.

11. Prevent feet from slipping in shoes

Who doesn’t love a great pair of high heels? The only downside is the inevitable blisters left on heels after a day of your feet sliding around inside those fantastic shoes. To prevent this, spray a generous amount of hair spray into the backs of your shoes. This will cut down on the slickness, helping your feet to stay in place while you walk around all day.
