My Pregnant Daughter Made Me Her Personal Servant as She Felt Bad — I Discovered She Was Lying

Emma and her husband, Mark, had been bickering frequently during her pregnancy. They are newlyweds expecting their first kid but do not get along.

Their disagreements escalated to the point where they both believed their living environment was unacceptable for a pregnant mother. As a result, Emma readily consented to move in with me temporarily, and I was looking forward to our bonding time.

Little did I realize I was in for a horrible surprise. Anyway, this time apart allowed the couple to relax. Mark remained empathetic, but was relieved because Emma had become intolerable.

She treated him like a servant, lazing around and showing little sympathy when he complained. This dynamic led to their big fight, which resulted in her leaving.

Of course, I decided to let Emma stay with me. As her mother, I wanted to offer her support during this difficult time. I’m a 61-year-old woman who works 45 hours per week.

Despite my busy schedule, I soon found myself doing all the cooking and chores. Initially, it was okay because Emma felt sick most of the time.

But then I witnessed something that changed everything, leaving me more disappointed than anything else. I was hoping she’d give a better explanation.

I have a webcam at home for my dog, but I never informed Emma about it. I checked the clip two days ago and was shocked. Emma stretched, danced, and then brought in shopping bags.

She took out new dresses and started trying them on. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The contrast between her vibrant, carefree demeanor and the weak, helpless persona she showed me at home was jarring.

Emma lived with me for free, so I thought she had finally gotten better. But when I came home, I found her weak and asking me to bring her favorite chips. I was suspicious, but I did as she asked. The next day, the situation repeated itself.

I finally realized she was making a fool of me. I decided to prepare a plan she wouldn’t like. The next time she started whining, I did the same.

I began saying I felt sick and couldn’t do anything. This continued for several days until she started demanding that I do what she wanted.

Emma began acting mean toward me, expressing her frustration. “Mom, you’re so insensitive! You know I’m pregnant, and yet you refuse to help me!” she snapped, her voice filled with exasperation, trying to guilt-trip me.

Stunned, I replied, “Emma, I’ve been trying my best to care for you while you figure things out with Mark. But you need to understand that I have my limits too.”

Emma remained hellbent on making me feel guilty for not giving in to her demands. “You just don’t care about me,” she said, her voice dripping with accusation.

I stood my ground and told her, “You should rethink what you’re expecting from me. I’ve done everything I can to support you.”

Emma tried to be coy about it and blamed her behavior on hormones. “Maybe it’s just the hormones making me act this way,” she said, but I wasn’t convinced.

“Mom, why aren’t you helping me? You know I feel terrible!” she exclaimed.

“Funny you should say that,” I replied. “You seem to have plenty of energy when I’m not around.”

“What are you talking about?” she asked, confused.

“This,” I said, playing the footage of her dancing and trying on dresses. Emma turned pale.

“Mom, I can explain…” she started.

“Explain what? That you’ve been lying to me and taking advantage of my kindness?” I interrupted.

“I just needed a break. I didn’t mean to lie,” she admitted.

“A break? From what? You don’t work, you don’t help around the house, and you live here for free,” I said, feeling frustrated.

“I’m sorry, Mom. I just didn’t know what else to do,” Emma confessed.

“I understand that pregnancy is tough, but deceiving me isn’t the answer,” I explained. “From now on, you’ll contribute to the household chores and be honest with me. If you need help, just ask. But don’t lie to me again.”

“I promise, Mom. I’m really sorry,” she said sincerely.

“Good. Let’s start fresh. We can get through this together, but it has to be based on trust and mutual respect,” I concluded.

From that day on, things started to improve. Emma realized the importance of honesty, and we worked together to create a more balanced and supportive home environment.

This experience taught us both valuable lessons about trust, respect, and the true meaning of family. After apologizing to me and showing remorse, Emma finally went back to her marital home. She knew she had to come clean to Mark as well.

“Mark, there’s something I need to tell you,” Emma began nervously.

“What’s wrong?” Mark asked, concerned.

“I’ve been fooling you too,” Emma admitted. “I acted like I could barely move and exaggerated how sick I felt.”

Mark sighed, taking a moment to process what he heard. “Emma, why did you do that?” he asked gently.

“I just felt overwhelmed and didn’t know how else to cope,” she explained. “I’m so sorry for deceiving you.”

Mark embraced her, feeling a mix of relief and understanding. “It’s okay, Emma. I know pregnancy is hard. Let’s just move forward from here.”

Emma is due to give birth to their first child any day from now. She has always wanted to be a mom and this will be her miracle baby as she has suffered a miscarriage before.

Meanwhile, Mark, as a first-time dad-to-be, is elated to welcome a new addition in to the family. I know that he and Emma will warmly embrace their little one and dote on him.

The couple’s bond grew stronger and this chapter in their lives reminded them of the power of forgiveness and the importance of being truthful with one another.
