
It’s not every day you get stalked in the cereal aisle, but a young man was definitely being hunted.
Every corner he turned in the supermarket, a sweet-looking little old lady was right behind him, staring intently. Finally, she cut him off at the checkout line and turned around with tearful eyes.
“I’m so sorry if I creeped you out, dear,” she whispered. “It’s just… you look exactly like my late son.”
Touched, the young man smiled. “Oh, don’t worry about it. It’s totally fine.”
“I know this sounds silly,” she continued, wiping her eye, “but as I walk out, could you call out ‘Goodbye, Mom!’? It would mean the absolute world to me.”
“Of course I can,” he replied warmly.
As she pushed her cart through the exit, the young man waved enthusiastically and yelled, “Goodbye, Mom!”
The old lady turned, blew him a kiss, and smiled beautifully. Overwhelmed with a warm, fuzzy feeling of having done his good deed for the day, the man stepped up to pay for his five simple items.
“That will be $121.85,” the cashier said blankly.
The man gasped. “Wait, what?! How? I only have a few things!”
