He managed to juggle time and funds for school and supporting his family while selling chicharon. Thanks to his perseverance, this August 2022, Fuentes graduated from the Talisay City College with a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree.
He didn’t graduate with flying colors but many netizens were impressed by his determination to finish his studies – and his trophies are his kids: 17, 14, 10, and nine months old
Jesus’s family lives in a makeshift house, but he hopes that their lives will become better once he gets a better-paying job. The road to reaching his dream wasn’t easy for Tatay Jesus, especially because his wife wasn’t supportive of his plans to go back to school. He explained that his wife thought his going to school would just make their lives more difficult.
Although he had to encountered many arguments with his wife, he persevered. At school, he would bring his chicharon supplies to sell to his classmates.
Now that he finally graduated from college, he hopes to find a review center that he can attend for free or through a scholarship to help him pass the teacher’s board exams. If given the chance, he hopes to find a job as a teacher at their hometown in Malabuyoc, southern Cebu.
