A young engineer fresh out of MIT was finishing a job interview when the HR manager asked,
“So, what kind of starting salary are you looking for?”
The engineer replied confidently,
“Somewhere around $125,000 a year… depending on the benefits package.”
The interviewer nodded calmly.
“Well… what would you say to five weeks paid vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, a retirement plan with company matching up to 50% of your salary…”
The engineer sat up straighter.
“And,” the HR manager continued, “a brand-new company car every two years. Let’s say… a red Corvette.”
The young engineer’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.
“WOW!” he shouted.
“Are you kidding me?!”
The interviewer smiled and replied:
“Yeah… but you started it.”
