Men lie, women lie. Even kids are quite good at the game, too. It’s something about the human nature… a way of getting out of a difficult situation, it’s about deceiving people into believing or doing something we want them to do.
For men, the lies told are quite unlimited. In their relationships with wives and girlfriends, 10 lies seem to be so widespread that some now believe that 18 out every 20 men are guilty of these lies.
So what are the lies that men seem to enjoy telling?
1. “I’m single”
This is a very classic one. Men seem to lie about their relationship/marital status all the time, and if you ask 10 women, about 7 of them will tell you they have been told this lie at least once.
2. “She is just a friend!”
I have known her for years, in fact she is like my sister. Or that lady he keeps hanging out with every day after work and on weekends and the reason he disappears and abandons you every time “she’s just a friend” needs him?
3. “She’s the one who keeps calling me.”
I thinks she might even be obsessed with me! This is the response you will likely get from a man you have caught red-handed more than once talking to a particular woman on phone.
4. “I will never cheat on you again!”
Cheaters will cheat. That’s what they do. While every woman who has been cheated on wants to believe her man will never cheat again, if he cheated once it is very likely that he will cheat again. Most cheaters have claimed that cheating is a habit that is difficult to break. The only thing that can help you in this situation is if you are a strong woman. Strong enough to walk away the very first time you find out that you have been cheated on. Men who cheat clearly don’t respect you or your relationship.
5. “It’s only you, I swear”
Says the man who has a side-chick somewhere, and a baby mama pregnant with his second illegitimate child.
6. “I would never lie to you!”
Have you ever heard of someone lying about lying? This is gas lighting of the highest form. If a guy tells you that he would never lie to you, he is not only double lying to you but is also most likely hiding something bigger.
7. “I’m on My Way”
Guys usually throw you this line when you’re making them meet you at some event they don’t want to attend – like, say, your family reunion. He’s stalling, but he’s also being pouty. Consider: He can’t exactly refuse to go without enduring serious repercussions from you, and he can’t very well throw a temper tantrum in front of your pop-pop. So saying this and then showing up late is his way of gaining a wee amount of control.
8. “Yes, I was listening”
It is very easy to catch men in this lie because they just don’t like to listen but then pretend to be listening. It can be so frustrating after you have been talking to a man about something that is important to you but he loses his focus along the way. Just ask them to repeat what you’ve been saying for the last two minutes and you will be surprised that he didn’t hear a thing.
9. “It’s not the right time to plan things right now”
This lie will likely be told to you by a man who is avoiding making any important future plans with you. If he doesn’t seem like he wants to plan for something long-term, there could be a bigger problem that he might not be willing to reveal to you and you might need to pry harder in order to find out why he doesn’t want to commit to making any future plans with you.
10. “Nothing’s Wrong, I’m Fine”
A whopping 52 percent of men have told their girlfriend this line. According to experts, this go-to fib is all about avoiding drama and protecting male pride. Men know they’re not as good with articulating what’s happening or how they’re feeling, so it’s easier for them to just keep you out of the situation. Next time he uses this line, give him a couple days and then ask him again if he is still bummed…and why. By then he may have figured things out.
