My Husband Says Paying My Son’s Tuition Is “No Longer His Responsibility”

I’ve been married to my husband Paul for 15 years.

I have an 18-year-old son, Jude, from a previous relationship, and Paul has a teenage daughter from his first marriage.

Jude will start college this year, but my husband Paul refuses to pay his tuition. Instead, he wants to spend money on a car for his daughter’s 16th birthday.

I said that spoiling his daughter with a car at 16 isn’t that necessary but my son’s education is crucial.

So, I suggested to him that he gets a less lavish gift for his daughter.

Paul got angry and declared, “Well, Jude’s dad is a lazy man who never worked a day in his life.”

He then added, “don’t expect me to deprive my daughter of a nice gift just because your son’s dad won’t step up and take his duties as a father seriously.”

To my disappointment, he declared “Even though I love him, Jude is no longer my responsibility now that he is 18”

I am crushed by my husband’s behavior, especially since he’s always been a good father figure for my son. How should I handle this situation?
