The Prince and Princess of Wales sent in a personal letter, “We cannot begin to imagine what the families, friends, and loved ones of those killed and injured in Southport today are going through.”
Kate Middleton and Prince William are extending their “love, thoughts, and prayers” to those engaged in a tragic knife attack in the United Kingdom, which killed two children.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 42, posted a personal statement on their social media profiles on July 29, following a stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class in Southport, England, that killed two children and left several others in serious condition.
βAs parents, we cannot begin to imagine what the families, friends and loved ones of those killed and injured in Southport today are going through,β Prince William and Princess Kate wrote. βWe send our love, thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this horrid and heinous attack.β
They added, βThank you also to the emergency responders who, despite being met with the most horrific scenes, demonstrated compassion and professionalism when your community needed you most.β
The note was signed with the initials “W&C,” which stood for William and Catherine. The couple employs the shorthand to signify that a message was sent directly from them rather than their communications team.
Prince William and Princess Kate are the parents of three children: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
Prince William and his two eldest children recently attended a Swift concert in London on June 21, where they posed for a selfie with the pop starΒ and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Following the Southport attack, King Charles issued a statement saying he and Queen Camilla are “profoundly shocked to hear of the utterly horrific incident.”
βWe send our most heartfelt condolences, prayers and deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who have so tragically lost their lives, and to all those affected by this truly appalling attack,β he said.
Police reported that a 17-year-old from Cardiff had been arrested in connection with the attack. During a news conference, Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy stated that he was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Kennedy verified that the youngsters were at a dancing school when the suspect, armed with a knife, walked in and attacked them.
According to BBC News, The Telegraph, and the Daily Express, the event took place near a Swift-themed yoga and dance class, which was marketed for youngsters aged 6 to 11.
“We believe that the adults who were injured were bravely trying to protect the children who were being attacked,” Mr. Kennedy added.
