Two adolescent males were going through their neighborhood when they observed a group of people clustered around a car.
As they got closer, they tried to figure out what the crowd was gazing at, but it was a bizarre sight.
A creature was simply immobilized, unable to move.
The lads realized they needed to act immediately if this animal was going to survive, but they had no idea how to aid the unfortunate creature.
Friends Jaydon Pettipas and Aidan Hart made the strange discovery in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, according to Canadian news station CBC.
By the end of the day, the two teenage guys would be acclaimed as heroes for their acts.
When they spotted a gathering of individuals crowded together, they had to investigate what had prompted them to halt and gaze. Even up close, they were unsure of what they were looking at.
The animal was barely identifiable and appeared to be frozen solid.
“Before” and “after”. Thanks to Jaydon and Aiden, this little man will be okay. ❤️
A squirrel got caught beneath a car and wrapped with insulation foam. They realized it didn’t have much longer to survive.
“There was nothing recognizable about it,” Jaydon, 15 years old, said CBC Canada.
The lads understood the squirrel needed aid but weren’t sure how to get it, so they went into a grocery shop and got a little milk container to house it.
Nobody around the lads knew what to do, and as time went, the situation worsened.
The guys called friends and family to ask for help.
“I had never seen anything like this before,” Dr. Melanie Eagan of St. George Veterinary Clinic stated.
She claimed the squirrel was so covered in insulating foam that it could barely move its back legs minimally.
If the boys had not responded so swiftly, and their mother had not assisted them in bringing the squirrel in, it would not have survived.
The veterinarian thought that the animal had been residing in someone’s garage, basement, or shed and became entangled in the debris.
‘Come into anguish’
“Someone was probably patching up a hole trying to keep a draft out and this little guy ran through it when it was still wet,” she went on to say. “But that stuff hardens pretty quickly so it wouldn’t have taken long for him to become in distress.”
She stated that it required time, patience, and rubbing alcohol to remove the foam from the animal’s fur. She then combed it out, forcing the animal to shed some of its fur.
The squirrel has since been released into the wild.
