I was at the store with my service dog when the woman in front of me at checkout caught my attention.
Her cart was overflowing with nearly $200 worth of toilet paper.
She looked at my dog and asked with a little attitude,
“What kind of dog is that?”
I smiled and said,
“He’s my service dog.”
She rolled her eyes.
“I knew that. What kind of service does he provide?”
“He’s a B.L.D.”
She frowned.
“What’s a B.L.D.?”
Meanwhile, my dog was happily licking her hands and face like they were old friends.
I calmly replied,
“Butt-Licking Dog.”
She stared at me.
“Excuse me?”
“Yep. He’s specially trained to help me when I run out of toilet paper.”
The cashier completely lost it.
The woman looked down at her cart, then at my dog, then back at her $200 toilet-paper collection.
She suddenly stopped asking questions.
And my dog?
He just kept wagging his tail like he had the most important job in the store.
