Tom and Emma were opening their wedding gifts when Tom found a small box from his new father-in-law.
Inside were only two things: a wooden rolling pin and a tiny whistle.
Confused, Tom called him. “Dad, what’s this for?”
His father-in-law laughed.
“Simple, son. If Emma ever chases you with that rolling pin, blow the whistle as loud as you can.”
Tom asked, “And then what?”
“I’ll come rescue you! I’ve been escaping her mother for 30 years—I’m the most experienced bodyguard you’ll ever have!”
Moral: Always trust advice from someone who survived the first generation.
